Efficiency Cliff
Below 0.05 TH/s, modern ASIC units often run on lower-wattage PSUs where the selection problem is simpler — a single 500–600W unit handles the load without rail distribution concerns. The pairing complexity that defines our consultation work emerges at higher draw levels.
Breaker Math Changes
At 0.05 TH/s on current-generation hardware, you are typically drawing 1,200–1,800W at the wall. This crosses the threshold where Korean apartment circuits (usually 15–20A at 220V) become a binding constraint. You can no longer assume any PSU from a reputable brand will work — you need to match rail configuration, cable gauge, and breaker allocation simultaneously.
Noise and Thermal Considerations
Units at this hash rate level generate enough heat to require dedicated ventilation planning. PSU fan noise compounds miner fan noise. Our selection reports include acoustic measurements because operators in residential buildings frequently need to balance hash rate against neighbor complaints.
When Lower Hash Rate Makes Sense
We still answer informal questions about sub-0.05 TH/s setups. But formal consultations focus where the PSU pairing problem is non-trivial — at 0.05 TH/s and above, where a wrong power supply choice costs you hardware, not just efficiency.
